I am stuck inside this heart-shaped box
And even though the key is just beyond my reach,
Its tender warmth and light, they call to me,
A sanctuary, where my soul would be.
I see the shadows of my past in there,
The echoes of a love so pure, so rare.
Yet now I stand on the outside, apart,
With longing deep within my aching heart.
But hope still lingers in this aching chest,
A silent whisper urging me to quest.
For even though the box is closed so tight,
I'll find a way to reach its gentle light.
And when I do, the darkness will subside,
I'll nestle close, with love and light inside.
This heart-shaped box will no longer confine,
For it will open, and its warmth will be mine.
